Mahoning Valley election news for Oct. 24

  • State Rep. Michele Lepore-Hagan, D-Youngstown, on Wednesday responded to Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s directive calling on county boards of elections to complete their vote counts by 2 p.m. Nov. 18. “The bottom line is every vote cast in the 2020 election must be counted,” Lepore-Hagan said in a news release. “We know the secretary of state can see the absentee ballot requests and the lines at early vote. Ohioans are motivated to make their voices heard in this election. They are making a plan to vote safely before Election Day. We demand that county boards of elections be given the time needed to ensure a complete count of votes.”
  • Senate Bill 163, legislation creating the Purple Heart and International Symbol of Access license plate, was signed into law by Gov. Mike DeWine on Thursday. “I’m thankful to all those who served and received the Purple Heart, most especially those who brought this license plate need to my attention,” state Rep.
